Roger Deering (1904 – 1980)
Roger L. Deering was one of America’s foremost sea and landscape artists who captured the charm of New England’s many moods. At the time of his death Deering was a resident of Ocean Ave. in Kennebunkport, Maine. He served as President of the Portland Art Associates, and the Portland Society of Arts and Crafts, and in various positions with the American Professional League of New York. Deering was Director of The Roger Deering Art Gallery and School of Outdoor Painting, in Kennebunkport, from 1945-1975. Recipient of many awards during his long career, he is listed in “Who’s Who in American Art”.
